Summary

Picture a software reseller in Manila noticing more customers asking about AI tools by name. Google's own daily trending lists fit that picture: the Philippines is where AI assistant names reached the top 25 searches most often in our window.

We checked 32 days of daily top and rising search lists for 42 countries. AI assistant names and AI tool terms appeared 82 times, in 33 of the 42 countries. That is 0.12% of all list slots, so AI terms break into these lists widely but not often.

ChatGPT and OpenAI terms account for half of the appearances. We count list appearances only. These counts are not search volume or interest scores.

What we measured

Each daily refresh of the public Google Trends tables stores only that day's top 25 terms per area, together with five years of weekly scores for those 25 terms. The tables keep about 32 to 49 recent refreshes, so the list history available covers September 19 to October 20, 2026 (32 daily lists), plus a few partial earlier snapshots for some countries.

We stacked every daily list for 42 countries from the international top terms and top rising terms tables and counted each time an AI term held one of the 25 slots in a country's list on a given day. Our AI terms are: chatgpt, chat gpt, gpt, openai, open ai, openai mathematics, copilot, gemini ai, google.ai, claude ai, ai, artificial intelligence news, ai detector, humanize ai, hostinger ai builder and flow ai. The bare terms 'gemini' (20 appearances in 15 countries) and 'claude' (6 appearances) are excluded because they can refer to a zodiac sign or a person. Terms that contain 'ai' only as part of a person's name or another language's words were also excluded.

Nine countries had no appearance of our strict AI terms: Brazil, Canada, New Zealand and Sweden showed only the ambiguous bare 'gemini' or 'claude', while Finland, Germany, Japan, Switzerland and Turkey showed none at all.

Copilot, Gemini and the plain term 'ai' all spiked across many countries on September 21. The data does not say why. Outside that day, AI terms still reached the lists in 25 countries.

What this means

AI assistant names reach the daily trending lists in most markets, but they rarely crowd out local news, sports and weather there. Curiosity about AI is steady background demand with occasional spikes, and it is strongest in parts of Southeast Asia in this window. For an international brand, that makes AI brand visibility a market-by-market question.

If you sell internationally, expect customers in markets like the Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia to use AI assistants early, and check how those assistants describe your brand there. A free AI visibility audit can start with your priority markets, covering the chat assistants and AI Overviews SEO in each country.

Limits

Only 32 days of list history exist in the dataset, so we cannot show growth by country or first appearance dates over years.

Counts are list appearances, not search volume. A country's list holds 25 terms a day regardless of how many people search.

Term matching is exact on a curated list. Local-language AI terms we did not list would be missed, and bare 'gemini' and 'claude' were excluded as ambiguous.

Partial snapshots before September 19 cover few countries.
