LLM SEO Tools Compared by Which Models They Actually Cover

LLM SEO tools track whether large language models such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity mention and cite your brand. The biggest difference between them is model coverage: AthenaHQ lists 11 models on its $295 Starter plan, Rankscale lists 9 on its $99 Pro plan, while several others cover three to five models until you reach an enterprise tier. Start with the models your buyers use, then compare price.

The last row is our own done-for-you service. It covers fewer models than most tools here, and we explain why below.

Why model coverage matters for LLM SEO

Each model gathers information differently. Some lean on live web search, some lean more on what they learned in training, and each picks different sources. A brand can be recommended by Perplexity and missing from ChatGPT for the same question.

That makes coverage the first filter for an LLM SEO tool. But more is not always better. Tracking 11 models costs credits, and if your buyers mostly use ChatGPT and Google, the extra models add noise. Our explainer on what LLM SEO is covers how models choose sources, and how to rank in ChatGPT covers the model most buyers start with.

1. AthenaHQ

What it does: AthenaHQ has the widest model list on a published self-serve plan in this roundup. Starter covers 11 models including Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI and Mistral. Usage is metered in credits, one credit per AI response.

Who it's for: Brands selling into audiences spread across many assistants, including international markets where models like Mistral or DeepSeek see use.

Price: Free Essential tier (300 credits, five models). Starter is $295 per month with 3,600 credits.

Honest limitation: 3,600 credits spread across 11 models is about 327 answers per model a month. Wide coverage thins out quickly. See our AthenaHQ review.

2. Rankscale

What it does: Rankscale's Pro plan lists nine models, including Claude, DeepSeek and Mistral, plus page audits. Pro includes 1,200 credits and up to 4,800 tracked answers a month.

Who it's for: Individuals and small teams that want broad LLM coverage without an enterprise budget.

Price: Pro is $99 per month with a 7-day free trial. Essentials is $17 per month on yearly billing.

Honest limitation: Grok and Meta AI are not in Rankscale's listed models, and the Essentials model list is not shown.

3. Profound

What it does: Profound's Enterprise plan covers up to nine engines, and it is the only tool here that lists Exa Search, a search engine built for AI applications.

Who it's for: Enterprises that need daily data from many models and can negotiate a custom contract.

Price: The free trial covers three engines (ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Overviews) for 7 days. Enterprise is custom.

Honest limitation: Wide coverage only comes with Enterprise. The trial covers three models. Our Profound review has more.

4. Goodie

What it does: Goodie scales from five engines on Core to eight on Pro (adding Gemini, Alexa and Sparky) and up to 14 on Enterprise, which adds Claude, Meta AI, DeepSeek, Grok and others. It also analyzes AI crawler activity on your site.

Who it's for: Brands that may need voice and shopping assistants such as Alexa and Sparky later on.

Price: Core is $295 per month for 110 prompts. Pro is $999 per month.

Honest limitation: Core leaves out Gemini and Claude, two major LLMs, so the entry plan is narrower than its headline count.

5. Scrunch

What it does: Scrunch tracks ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, AI Overviews and Meta, and serves AI agents an AI-friendly version of your site through its Agent Experience Platform.

Who it's for: Brands that want to monitor LLMs and control what AI agents read.

Price: Starter is $300 month-to-month or $250 a month billed annually, with a 7-day free trial.

Honest limitation: Microsoft Copilot is not in Scrunch's listed engines.

6. Ahrefs Brand Radar

What it does: Brand Radar covers AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini, Copilot, Perplexity and ChatGPT, with Claude listed in its pricing section, and adds YouTube and Reddit mentions.

Who it's for: Ahrefs subscribers who want an LLM view without another vendor.

Price: Custom prompts from $50 per month, free on paid Ahrefs plans from Lite. AI Visibility Index from $199 per month.

Honest limitation: Small custom prompt allowances on lower tiers limit how deeply you can test each model.

7. Otterly.AI

What it does: Otterly.AI covers ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot as standard, and sells Claude, Google AI Mode and Gemini as add-ons, so you only pay for the extra models you need.

Who it's for: Budget buyers who want to choose models one at a time.

Price: Lite is listed at $29 per month for 15 prompts.

Honest limitation: Adding Gemini and Claude raises the real price above the headline.

8. Gauge

What it does: Gauge runs prompts daily on ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and Copilot on Growth, and lets you add Claude and Grok on any plan by connecting your own Anthropic or xAI API key. The provider bills you directly.

Who it's for: Technical teams comfortable managing API keys who also want generated content.

Price: Growth is $599 per month for 600 daily prompts.

Honest limitation: Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews are Enterprise only, and bring-your-own-key costs sit outside the subscription.

9. AI Search Optimization (our service)

What it does: We are an LLM SEO service, not a tracker. A free audit finds what keeps LLMs from reading and trusting your site. Month one fixes AI crawler access, schema, llms.txt, entity data and content gaps. Then we keep optimizing and track up to 50 prompts a month across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews.

Who it's for: Businesses that want their site made easy for LLMs to read, not another dashboard.

Price: $299 per month, 3-month minimum, or $2,990 a year. Custom quote over 500 pages.

Honest limitation: We do not track Claude, Copilot, Grok or DeepSeek. We chose the four engines that reach the most searchers, but if Claude matters to your buyers, pair us with a tracker or pick one above. You can generate an llms.txt file yourself with our free llms.txt generator or check your site with the AI visibility checker.

How to pick an LLM SEO tool

  • List the models your buyers use. Ask customers or check referral traffic in your analytics for chatgpt.com, perplexity.ai and gemini.google.com.
  • Match the plan, not the product. Coverage often doubles between the entry and enterprise tier.
  • Check add-on costs. Otterly and Gauge charge separately for some models.
  • Decide who acts on the data. LLM visibility improves when your site changes. If no one will change it, consider an AI SEO agency instead of more tracking.

Frequently asked questions

What are LLM SEO tools?

LLM SEO tools check whether large language models like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity mention or cite your brand for the prompts you track. They report results over time and often compare you with competitors. Some add page audits or content features.

Which LLM SEO tool covers the most models?

On published self-serve plans, AthenaHQ's Starter lists 11 models and Rankscale's Pro lists 9. Goodie's Enterprise plan lists up to 14 and Profound's Enterprise up to 9, but both are custom-priced.

Do I need to track Claude and Grok?

Only if your buyers use them. Most consumer and business searches still run through ChatGPT and Google. Check your referral traffic and ask customers before paying for wider coverage.

Is LLM SEO different from regular SEO tools?

Regular SEO tools track rankings in a list of links. LLM SEO tools track mentions and citations inside generated answers, which change between runs and between models. Many SEO suites, including Semrush and Ahrefs, now offer both.

Can LLM SEO tools see what is in a model's training data?

No. They can only send prompts and record the answers. That shows the result, not the cause, so you still need to infer why a model mentions or ignores you from the sources it cites.

What does an llms.txt file have to do with LLM SEO?

An llms.txt file is a proposed plain-text guide to your site written for language models. It is cheap to add and is one of the fixes we make in month one, though support for it varies by model.
